CBRNE
While uncommon in Vermont on a large scale, there is unfortunately a history of items intended to cause deadly damage to be involved in, or the cause of, incidents. Such weapons are grouped under the CBRNE (chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear, or explosive) acronym. CBRNE items can range from a homemade pipe bomb to a large-scale weapon of mass destruction (WMD). Vermont has a variety of special teams that can respond to such incidents. These teams are highly trained and equipped, and so are only mobilized once threats have been evaluated.
- National Guard Civil Support Team (National Guard WMD Team)
- Hazardous Material Response Team
- Clandestine Laboratory Response Team
- Urban Search and Rescue
- State Police Bomb Squad
- Procedures to request these Teams (Vermont Emergency Management)
- Statewide Bomb Response Plan
- Statewide suspicious Package Response Plan (white powder letters)
Please Note: There is little information on CBRNE topics available to LEPC #12 at this time. As soon as new resources become available, we will add additional material to this page.
